www.tracyforillinois.com was the campaign website of a political candidate. The United States is run using a federal constitutional republic and there are numerous parties.
I was talking to a good friend recently about his dog and the story he told me i didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He lives in a rural area with his property surrounded by similar farms. His dog is allowed to roam around the fields but it was in the recent weeks before the conversation that his dog, Jim, had been not returning when called. Due to the size of the property this would often take five minutes for him to return but more recently he was not coming back until an hour later. My friend decided to put a GPS tracker on him and with the help of some computer software (hes a computer geek) we watched where Jim was going. The first thing to note was the distance he covered I would imagine following the scent of rabbits. Over a few days of watching it became apparent that it was the neighbours house that was proving the temptation. With a bit more digging and discussion with the neighbour we worked out he had been digging where they had an old family pet buried! WE solved the problem with a swift telling off and put some slabs over the area. Luckily JIm would always come home but many pets may well get carried away and become lost. A lost cat or dog can be highly distressful for an owner and is certainly best avoided. It did get me thinking of the benefits of GPS and if every pet had one found cats and dogs would certainly be more easily attained
We hear this all the time, it takes teamwork to be successful.
This is actually easier said than done, teamwork involves people and people have all kind of different personalities. To have a good team, there must be a good leader.
The leader is setting the tone because no one wants to follow a weak or confused team leader. He or she must be willing to understand the different types of personalities and their gifts to bring it all together into a workable and highly motivated team or unit.
The leader must give clear and precise action plans and effectively weed out the negative team members that can bring confusion and discord to the group.
The leader should also make sure that true and well-placed praise and awards are given constantly to keep the morale of the team at an all time high.
Weekly reviews of activities and meetings are necessary to tweak the direction of the team and to give the praise where praise is due. A great team building kit will include clear instructions and direction to all of the above, include action plans to working goals, and keep track of achievements. Team building looks easy but is hard work and it is a constant activity like a beautiful garden; it is necessary to remove non-productive branches so the rest of the garden can reach its full potential.
Who constitutes team building? Going down the pub, going for a meal, team challenge day? Of course the the different way that teams bond can all be included in broad spectrum of what team building actually is. The difference between the different methods is what the organiser wants to achieve. If they are looking for non structured socialising then going down the pub is ideal, giving people the option when they arrive, leave and what they discuss. Going for a team meal is a little more structured with a little more pressure on timings and overall etiquette. A team challenge day is different from the other two because certain tasks need to be participated in and certain results achieved. Depending on whether the desired outcomes are achieved or not then brings a whole new set of observations to be made on the team dynamics. This can be one of bonding or separation.
The costs of the different types of team building can of course cost the organiser varied amounts of money. Down the pub pretty cheap, buying a round to start of the evening off. A meal can be very costly unless people pay for themselves which can cause a negative effect through the team. Organising activities can be very costly unless a few items of team building equipment, such as blindfolds are bought and then they are facilitated in within house. What ever the event the overall effect can be fantastic or disastrous on teams around the world, a resource that all bosses should not underestimate.
There are so many different workshops available for the young people within school and colleges. From politics, History, art too maths, animation and world culture. These maths workshops and school workshops really do give the students insight into areas that 20 years ago they could only dream of studying in such a way.
The expertise of the facilitators that run such workshops provide information in a way that is first hand. For example a political workshop may be run by someone that has actual experience within a political party or who has either tried to, or actually has run fore government. Another example would be maths workshops There is such a wide spectrum of ways that mathematics can be delivered, it does not just have to be a text book and pen. Hands on maths activities are son much more engaging for the youth of today. Where will we be in 10 years?
